Taqueria El Mezquite

Wanted to try this other restaurant that I saw on Food Network for the nation's top taco place, but they were sold out.

You know the saying goes "if you want tacos, go get it, don't let nobody tell you that you can't have your tacos". So we chose this restaurant, very Mexican feeling. Actually the whole neighborhood is so Mexican that I feel that I'm in Mexico. EXCITING!!!

Just had my sashimi nato lunch, but the taco craving is serious. Ordered Taco Dinner because I want the refried beans and Mexican rice too, just cause I'm greedy like that.

Take a bite of the beans   - not sure what kind of cheese is that, it's a little heavy but it's fine.
Take a bite of the Mexican Rice,  - don't remember the last time I had such great cooked rice, I mean it's not too dry or moist, it's like the perfect condition a rice can be in.
Take a bite of the chicken taco,  - even just plain chicken, it's juicy!
Take a bite of Fajitas chicken taco,  - more taste and pepper to it
Take a bite of pork taco,  - with a little fat, this marinated pork taco really just bring me to heaven once again!

Paleteria Las Tarascas

*Exploring the neighborhood*, and my eyes got stuck to the "ice-cream" sign across the street. Superstar saw the word "Paleta" and Ohno....that's my weakness.

Stepping into a wonderland, love all the paintings on the wall.

This lady here just makes me smile.

I saw them serving homemade yogurt with toppings of your choice. I was full, like bloated; and I'm not really a sweet tooth person but by just looking at how they serve it,  and all the choices
 I can't.

This lady was very nice to tell us all the water-based popsicle flavors, and even described to me what a tamarind is. lol.

I didn't get this. I chose this bread with raisins, butter and sugar. I gobble it down.....as my dinner, not guilty but I exercised.

  3. Their bartenders are nice and friendly. We stayed till closing and weren't ushered out or anything. Definitely want to go this Chicago event space again and see if their unlimited drinks brunch is worth it!
